Amir has a stand where he sells lemonade for $1.00 per cup and packages of chocolate chip cookies for $1.50. If he earns $280 on his first weekend and sells twice as many cups of lemonade as packages of cookies, how many of each did he sell? Wrote and solve a system of equations.

Answer:

160 cups of lemonade and 80 packages of cookies.

Explanation:

l = lemonade

c = cookies

l+1.5c=280

2c=l

Substitute.

3.5c=280

Simplify.

c=80

Substitute into the second equation.

l=160.

Plug it back into the equations to check.
