How did cotton affect the southern economy during the civil war?​

It boosted it because they relied on agricultural to cropping cotton. I believe they also made slaves help do plant and harvest cotton, making labor cheaper so, the southern states could earn more money. They didn't have much industrialization as the north. (Hardly any)
