1/3 wouldn't work because you rise 1 and go right 3 and that does not match any of the points

Using the two points first gives us a slope of 3

m(slope) = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)

m = (11 - 8)/(2 - 1)

m = 3/1

m = 3
