A pipe is split into four pieces with each piece twice as long as the previous one. The longest piece is 2 meters. How long is the the rope.

Answer: 3.75 m

If we know that we have four pieces of the pipe, each one twice as long as the previous one, being the longest 2m, we can order them inversely from major to minor:

first piece:
2m

second piece:
(2m)/(2)=1m

third piece:
(1m)/(2)=0.5m

fourth piece:
(0.5m)/(2) =0.25m

Now, adding the four pieces:


2m+1m+0.5m+0.25m=3.75m
