The vice president has limited power under the Constitution, but recent vice presidents have had more power. According to the constitution, Vice Presidents were not meant to be very powerful, though they just made the role of a Vice President for safety. The reason why the constitution has a Vice President is to provide backup for the president, or a next runner up if anything happens to the president, and was suppose to give an executive enforcement authority, but they never did, and was suppose to be the leader of the House Of Representatives. Now a days, you see the Vice Presidents with more power than before. The Vice President's now have a big influence in making bills and floor rules for the U.S. You can also see that they're more involved in political viewings.
