The area of the leaf is approximately 10 in².

How to estimate the area of the leaf.

The estimated area is an approximation or calculation of the size or extent of a particular space or region. It is often derived through measurements, mathematical models, or statistical methods to provide a close approximation of the actual area.

Given

A leaf with approximate shape of a triangle.

The lateral vein of the leaf represents the height of the leaf which corresponds height of the triangle.

Area of a triangle = 1/2bh

where

b is base

h is height

h = 5 in

b = 4 in

Area = 1/2*5*4

A = 5*2

A = 10 in²

Therefore, the area of the leaf is approximately 10 in².
