Many felt that Germany had been stabbed in the back by socialists and Jews. The Treaty of Versailles increased Germany's sense of dishonor due to the loss of territory, the reduction of the armed forces, the guilt clause of the war and major reparations. Inflation increased and the Great Depression hit.
