When there is no traffic, it takes Rina 4 hours to get from Boston to New York. She drives at a speed of 60 miles per hour. Her brother wants to get to New York in three hours. Is it possible? How fast would he have to drive?

Answer:

80 mph.

Explanation:

The distance = speed * time

= 60*4 = 240 miles.

To travel 240 miles in 3 hours you would have to travel at 240/3 = 80 mph, So it is possible for her brother to do the journey in 3 hours. (Though in the UK he would be breaking the speed limit!).
