How is amplitude measured on a longitudinal wave?

Hey there,

The correct answer is: You can measure it by the pressure difference it causes in the medium. Even in transversal waves, you usually have to have different units, (not meters), because the wave has electric and magnetic vectors and no specific height to speak of.
