When calculating the daily protein needs for marathon runners or competitive weightlifting, you should allow for approximately grams of protein per kilogram of body weight

The U.S. Recommended Daily Allowance of protein for adults is 0.8 gram per kilogram of body weight. For a 150-pound person, that's about 55 grams of protein per day. But for most athletes, that's probably not enough.
