Why was Louis Armstrong considered a jazz legend

I believe it’s because he created the form of jazz called skat or something along those lines.

i believe he was such a "legend" because of the impact he mad on jazz by playing the trumpet, the way that he played the trumpet was actually unique, from other peoples way, and also he was an actor and supposedly blind
