Daniel collects baseball cards and keeps them in a special binder. Each page holds 9 baseball cards ina 3x3 array. The first page is ⁴/9 full. The second page is ⅓ full. If Daniel put all the cards into just one page, what fraction of that page would be full? Use numbers, labeled sketches, or words to model and solve the problem.

Answer:

(7)/(9) full i.e. 77% is full.

Explanation:

It is given that the there are total 9 cards in 3 × 3 array.

Also,

First page is
(4)/(9) full i.e. out of 9 cards, there are total 4 cards on this page.

Second page is
(1)/(3) i.e.
(3)/(9) full i.e. out of 9 cards, there are total 3 cards on this page.

Now, it is given that Daniel put all the cards on one page.

i.e. This new page is
(4)/(9) +
(3)/(9) =
(7)/(9) full.

i.e. Out of 9 cards, there are 7 cards on this new page.

So, this page is
(7)/(9) full i.e. 0.77 area is full i.e. 77% is full.
