A major source of tension and often considered the thing that started the revolution was the fact that the French Economy was failing. The French Economy was awful and poverty was rampant. The royal family still wore fancy cloths and lived well. The people of France saw this as a lack of care for the people and the country. This caused dissent among the french people for the royal family.
