President McKinley would explain that "the Filipinos were incapable of self-government, and God had indicated that they could do nothing but" educate and Christianize "them, even though the Philippines had been Christianized by the Spaniards throughout of several centuries. This thought was also seen in the population of the United States, so they supported the US intervention in the Philippines.

Because the USA desired to be the most powerful nation around the world and they tried to conquer what Spaniards had. The Spanish people had some colonies in the world, and the Philippines was one of them. The Philippines resisted fearlessly against the united states but they were conquered by the end of the 1800s.
