Cesar is getting balloons for his mother's birthday party. He wants each balloon string to be 12 feet long. At the party store string is sold by yard. If Cesar wants to get 47 balloons how many yards of string will he need? 1 foot =1/3 yard

Given

Length of one balloon = 12 feet

Since 1 foot = 1/3 yards

12 feet = x

Cross multiply

1 * x = 1/3 * 12

x = 12/3

x = 4 yards

Hence one balloon will be 4 yards long.

If one balloon = 4 yards long

47 balloons = y

Cross multiply;

1 * y = 4 * 47

y = 188yards

Therefore Cesar will need 188 yards of string for 47 ballooons
