Four points are graphed in the diagram. Which correctly describe the distances between the points in the graph? Check all that apply.

A coordinate plane with 4 points graphed. Point P is negative 2, 3. Point Q is 4, eleven. Point R is twelve, 3. Point S is 9, negative 1.

( ) PQ = 8

( ) PQ = 10

( ) QS = 12

Answer:

PQ = √((-2 - 4)² + (3 - 11)² = √((-6)² + 8²)

= √(36 + 64) = √100 = 10

QS = √((4 - 9)² + (11 - (-1))²) = √((-5)² + 12²)

= √(25 + 144) = √169 = 13

RS = √((12 - 9)² + (3 - (-1))²) = √(3² + 4²)

= √(9 + 16) = √25 = 5

PQ = 10, QS = 13, SR = RS = 5
