If a = 3 sqrt(3) in the right triangle shown, what is the value of b?

Given:


a=3√(3)

To find:

The value of b.

Solution:

In a right angled triangle,


\tan \theta = (Perpendicular)/(Base)

For the given right angled triangle,


\tan \theta = (a)/(b)


\tan (30^\circ) = (3√(3))/(b)


(1)/(√(3)) = (3√(3))/(b)

On cross multiplication, we get


1* b=3√(3)* √(3)


b=3(3)


b=9

Therefore, the value of b is 9.
