The photo on page 553 had the greatest affect on me because Riak Dut seems to be isolated from the group. In the caption it says he eats alone most days and if we read further we realize he doesn’t consider america to be his home. So after all that he’s gone through his home country is a war zone and he feels ostracized in the country where he’s seeking refuge.
