Can anyone help me explain what makes up an atom please ​

In the center of any atom you have a nucleus which is made of positively charged protons and neutrons (no charge). Surrounding the nucleus are electrons which have negative charge. The mass of an electron is much much smaller compared to a proton, and the number of protons determine the element (eg: 8 protons means we have the element Oxygen.
