because of the extremely quick change of temperature happening around the world (global warming) ice sheets tend to break/melt/get destroyed. this also happens to many glaciers. The damage of the ice sheets and glaciers are already very bad, but what worse is that many animals also get harmed when ice sheets and glaciers break
