y = -x/3 - 4

Divide both sides by 3. 12/3 is 4 and since we don’t know what x is, it’s -x/3.

Answer:
y=-(1)/(3)x-4

Explanation:

To solve for y, we want to make sure y is isolated. SInce y is already isolated, all we need to do is divide both sides of the equation by 3.

3y=-x-12 [divide both sides by 3]

y=-(x)/(3) -4 or
y=-(1)/(3)x-4
