x= 1; y=2

Explanation:

x+y=3;

-3x+2y=1

To use elimination we must eliminate one of the variables. To do eliminate the x multiply the top equation by 3.

3x+3y=9

-3x+2y=1

Now add the 2 equations to eliminate

5y=10

y=2

Plugin y into another equation.

x+2=3

-2=-2

x=1
