A dog walks 8 km east before turning south and walking another 3 km. What is the dog's resultant displacement?​

Answer:

It makes a triangle shape, with the hypotenuse the displacement, I think. So, using Pythagorean's Theorem, 8^2+3^2=the displacement^2. 64+9=73, so the root of 73 is the displacement.
