Elwin is attempting to read a 480 page book in 28 days. He reads the first 60 pages in 4 days. At this rate, will he finish the book in time? Show your work and/or explain your reasoning.

Answer:

if every 4 days it is 60 days it would have to be

60 pages 4 days

120 pages 8 days

180 pages 12 days

240 pages 16 days

300 pages 20 days

360 pages 24 days

420 pages 28 days

480 pages 32 days

No he will not finish in time

Answer : No, he won't

Explanation:

Given

Target = 480 pages in 28 days

Rate = 60 pages in 4 days

Required:

Determine if he'll reach his target

The rate can be expressed using:

Rate = pages/days

So, we have:

Rate = 60 pages/ 4 days

Multiply the fraction by : that number are on pdf

This can be interpreted as: 420 pages in 28 days

And his target is 480 pages in 28 days

Hence, he wont finish the book at that rate
