Life span of WBCs is shorter as compared to RBCs. Why?

Answer:

The white blood cells have a short lifespan as they are destroyed by the lymphatic system of the body.

The white blood cells or the leukocytes have an average lifespan in between 13 to 20 days whereas the red blood corposcles can live upto 120 days.

The RBCs are also removed by the spleen to stay to stay in the bloodstream after completion of their lifecycle.

WBC count is very important to define the immune system. of the body.
