Answer:

x=6

Expiantion:

First i multiplied 2 and x then 2 and 14 and got 2x and 28 then subtracted 28 from 40 and got 12 then divided 2 from 12 and got 6.

2(x+14)=40

2x+28=40 40-28=12

2/12=6

Move all terms containing x to the left, all other terms to the right.

Add ‘-28’ to each side of the equation.
28+-28+2x=40+-28

Combine like terms: 28+-28=0
0+2x=40 + 28
2x=40+-28

Combine like terms: 40+-28=12
2x=12

Divide each side by ‘2’
X=6

Simplifying
X=6
