The constitution divided the government into three branches: legislative, executive, and judicial. The point of checks and balances was to make sure no branch would be able to control too much power, and it created a separation of powers! Hope this helps you! Brianliest would be appreciated! :)

Answer:

Separation of powers divides the national government into three branches. Checks and balances refers to the power that each branch exerts over the others and keeps them from becoming more powerful than one another.
