1) Unequal distribution of wealth • 60% of all American families had an income of less than $2000 per year (i.e. they were living below the poverty line). Top 5% of people earned 1/3 of the wealth. The only way poorer Americans could consume was through credit and consumption. 80% of Americans had no savings at all

1)There were many aspects to the economy of the 1920s that led to one of the most crucial causes of the Great Depression - the stock market crash of 1929. In the early 1920s, consumer spending had reached an all-time high in the United States. American companies were mass-producing goods, and consumers were buying.

3)The Great Depression began with the Wall Street Crash in October 1929. The stock market crash marked the beginning of a decade of high unemployment, poverty, low profits, deflation, plunging farm incomes, and lost opportunities for economic growth as well as for personal advancement.
