Why were american optimistic about the future in the 1920

"What will they think of next!” was a 1920s saying, because new things were continually coming out. And there were new things which you could enjoy, not just for the few. So it was a period of high hope.

They were optimistic about the future of 1920 because in 1918 and in 1919, they were facing flu which killed many people. They thought 1920 would be very bad or if a vaccine would come out. TH\hey were optimistic of the fact that if the flu would continue to spread or would it stop.
