To ship a package, Company 1 charges $10 for the first pound and 0.45 for each additional pound. Company 2 charges $14 for the first pound and 0.30 for each additional pound.

What is the equation for "p", the number of pounds it would take for the cost of the two shipping companies to be the same?

Answer:

answer is on the bottom

Explanation:

Company 1: y=0.45x+10

company 2: y=0.30x+14

To find when they are both the same, put an equal sign and solve:

0.45x+10=0.30x+14

-10 -10

0.45x=0.30x+4

-0.30x -0.30x

0.15x=4

divide by 0.15 on both sides and you got ur answer :) happy to help
