Is it proper to cross-examine for the purpose of discrediting the reliability or credibility of an adverse witness whom you know to be telling the truth?

The purpose of a cross examination is to discredit a opposing witness. If they are telling the truth use other things against them, things that would benefit your side. Use the truth against them. Ask them questions like it is possible that bla bla bla happened if there is no other evidence or witness confirming that something happened. They would have to say yes making their information less reliable
