The normal to the curve y =root x, at the point where x=1 and x=4 meet at P, find the coordinates of P.

The curve is y = sqrt{x}.

Replace x in the curve with 1 and then with 4 to find your point.

y = sqrt{1}

y = 1

First point (1, 1).

y = sqrt{4}

y = 2

Second point (4, 2).

Take it from here.
