Similarities and differences:
1. In both a republic and a democracy, citizens are empowered to participate in a representational political system
2.The major difference between a democracy and a republic is that a republic is a form of government whereas a democracy is an ideology that helps shape how a government is run.
3. In a democracy, the community of people are considered to hold power over how they are governed, but Republics are in opposition to rulership by a single person. All eligible citizens get equal say in decisions through elected representatives.
