The imaginary unit i is exactly defined as a number that gives -1 when squared.

So, by its very definition, you have the attachment I have attached as an answer.

If i = √-1, then i^2 = ?-example-1

i^2 = -1
Because if i is square root of -1, squared would take out the square root

Ik it’s a bit confusing with my wording
