Why would Washington’s reentry into NY have been so important at the end of the war? Help me I have like 10 mins help me please

It was so important because the battle of Long Island Washington could have lost a lot of his soldiers.

Answer:

New York was a Port city. Port city is a great way to transport good across water. Plus no troops could go to land if there wasn't any ports. Unless they did it by row boat which would take forever.
