How was the alliance between the Wampanoag and the Pilgrims key to the Pilgrims' survival?

Answer:

The Pilgrims had suffered great casualties with the journey and from disease. They were on the brink of death when a harsh winter hit. The Wampanoag Indian's saved them by providing food and later showed them how to be self (e.i. teaching them how to farm on the New World land).
