I wanna die on the way.So basically,I don't know the story your talking about so Im making my own.Sorry if this ain't helpful.But here is something that I would do to make it more interisting. (MY OPINION)

So to make the story more interesting,I would pick dieing on the way.There are so many ways that you could die.If your alive it would be interisting,but to me it would be awkward to end it.When dieing you could easily end it where you die.Simple as that.
