What reason did rice/ sugar/ cotton/ tobacco plantation owners give to justify why they NEEDED slave labor?
Because they were labor intensive crops
Because they knew how to run a large plantation
Because they wanted to give people an opportunity to move to to the New World
Because they were better at tending crops than indentured servants
