In your opinion, how did the war make life difficult for citizens of South Vietnam?

Many people lost their sources of income, their homes and their family and after the war, it's been estimated that between 200,000 and 300,000 South Vietnamese people were sent to re-education camps, where many endured torture, starvation, and disease while they were being forced to do hard labor.
