The poem could be about how we all come with forks in our life, we just call them decisions. This metaphor can help us understand how the road we choose - or the decision- can make all the difference in our life. I think the author is curious about his decisions and weighed upon heavily by the fact that this one small choice can lead to something huge. For example, he says, "I have taken the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference." So the author wonders, "what if?" What if I took the other one?
