The British was in tons and tons of debt due to their past wars which made them have to think fast. The British still considered the colonists to be under their ruling so they decided to put tons and tons of taxes on them. These taxes were then considered to become acts and one of the many acts passed was the Sugar Act which lead to other acts including the tea act, the stamp act and the intolerable act (named after the colonists). ~ hoped that helped a little :)
