Given:

Length of the rectangle =
x^3y^4 inches

Width of the rectangle =
xy^7 inches

To find:

The ratio of the length of the rectangle to width of the rectangle.

Solution:

We have,

Length =
x^3y^4 inches

Width =
xy^7 inches

So, the ratio of the length of the rectangle to width of the rectangle is

Ratio=(Length)/(width)

Ratio=(x^3y^4)/(xy^7)

Ratio=(x* x^2* y^4)/(x* y^4* y^3)

Cancel out the common factors.

Ratio=(x^2)/(y^3)

Ratio=x^2:y^3

Therefore, the required ratio is
x^2:y^3.
