WWI devastated Germany's economy. The currency was losing value, the treasury was empty, and they had a lot of war debt. The quality of life in Germany diminished as many were now in poverty and there were severe food shortages. Hitler spoke of the unfairness they were experiencing and used this to fuel nationalism and support for his platform.
