Pick any metal on the periodic table (left of the staircase). Aluminum, Calcium, Lead, anything but Hydrogen.

Non-metals are found on the right side of the staircase. Chorine, Iodine, Carbon, etc

**Keep in mind that not all solids are metalloids.
