The somatic cells of mosquitoes contain six total chromosomes. Based on this information, answer the following questions.

c. Assuming no errors, how many chromosomes would be present in an egg cell?

3 chromosomes would be present. one mosquito makes up 6 chromosomes, so if split in half which would be the sperm/egg, the egg would have 3 chromosomes while the sperm has the other 3.
