The purpose of including in-text citations in informative/explanatory writing is to give acknowledgement to the source of an idea that is not originally yours. By doing this, you are not plagiarizing another individual’s original idea and are building off information from a perspective of another, in order to assist the direction with which your informative/explanatory text is going.
