C. g(x) = sqrt(x+8)-2

Explanation:

"Shift two units down" is easier to see in the equation because an up or down shift is just tacked right on to the end of the equation. So "shift DOWN 2" is a minus two on the end of the equation. This means that A and D are both NOT the answer.

Left and right shifts are the opposite of what you might expect. Left shift is a "+ anumber" and Right shift is

"- anumber" This is tucked in very close to the x, because a left or right shift is a change in the x-direction. Again left shift is "+ anumber", so in your question, "shift eight units left" shows in the equation as the plus8 beside the x.

So B is wrong and C is the answer.
