The children were not wearing any protective gear, their hands feet, fingers could easily be crushed and shards of metal could get into their eyes and mouth. They’re children so they are not as strong as older males which could easily result with them dropping heavy things on their feet or blowing their back out. Also their clothes were most likely not think and it was loose which could result in frost bite or even burns on their bodies.
