Recombinant human growth hormone (hGH), produced by bacteria carrying a cloned hGH gene, is a way of obtaining hGH for patients who have defective hGH genes. The hGH gene encodes an mRNA only 573 nucleotides long, but the entire gene spans more than 7000 nucleotides. There are two exons and three introns. If we were to clone this gene directly from the nuclear DNA, bacteria would not be able to express the hGH protein. Explain why this is true.
