It will increase because we as humans all have a carbon footprint and with more and more people populating the earth and nothing is done, more carbon will be made on the atmosphere and eventually global warming will heat the earth up so much that we won't be able to live on it anymore and all the ice will be melted away.

Also carbon footprints are from gas, using cars, planes, factories,etc.. anything that pollutes the air pretty much.
